Update on travel plans...

It's been an interesting first week in Europe with a lot of changes, some at short notice, but it's better to just go with the flow than worry about stuff that's completely beyond your control.
I'd expected to be at Lake Maggiore by now, but the Air B&B Host at Verbania cancelled the booking at short notice last night, fortunately my hosts at Weggis have been good enough to let me extend my stay by another night so I'm still at Weggis.
Then this Moring I had a WhatsApp from my lovely Air B&B host in Venice to tell me that the staff at ACTV (the Venice Public Transport company) have announced a general 24 hour strike for Friday the 2oth which is when I'm supposed to arrive in Venice... I've now cancelled the accommodation I had booked at Lake Garda for the 19th and will instead drive straight to Venice to beat the start of the general strike.
Finally I've received an email from the company supplying the motorail service from Verona to Dusseldorf (which I would have use on my way home) advising that due to a technical shortage they won't be able to run any of the scheduled Verona to Germany services at all this summer and offering me a spot on their Innsbruck to Dusseldorf service which is 270Km in the wrong direction. I've said this route is unsuitable, so we'll see what they say next.
I will now need to cut short the final three days or so of my holiday to drive back to Germany to collect my MX-5 from SPS Motorsport in Altendiez.
Hopefully things will settle down a bit now and there won't be any changes to hotel bookings or travel plans...
Alan
